An Opportunity to Make an Eternal Difference

A Letter to Our Church Family | October 2026

Dear Church Family,

This coming Sunday is going to be a special day at Christian Congregation Church for several reasons!

First, we will gather around the Lord's Table as we share in Communion, remembering the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us and celebrating the salvation we have through Him.

Second, we will enjoy another First Sunday Fellowship immediately following our worship service. This month's menu is chili, and we're looking forward to sharing a meal and spending time together as a church family. Remember, there will be no Sonday Perk this Sunday, but we'll have plenty of opportunities for fellowship after worship!

And third, as an added bonus, we all get an extra hour of sleep! Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour Saturday night as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end.

But there's another reason this Sunday is especially important, and I don't want us to miss it.

This Sunday could be the day someone's eternity changes.

Over the past several weeks, I've challenged each of us to be intentional about reaching out to that "one more" person. Perhaps it's a family member, a friend, a neighbor, or a coworker. Someone you've been praying for. Someone you know needs Jesus. Someone who might be just one invitation away from hearing the Gospel.

This Sunday, our message will come from Romans 10:1–13, where we'll focus on the wonderful truth of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. It will be a clear presentation of the Gospel and an invitation for people to respond to what Christ has done for them.

And that's where each of us has an opportunity to play an important part.

Just beyond our passage, Paul asks a series of powerful questions:

"How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?"
Romans 10:14 (NKJV)

We often read those words and think about pastors, evangelists, or missionaries who travel around the world proclaiming the Gospel. And certainly, that is part of what Paul is describing.

But the responsibility of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ doesn't belong exclusively to those who stand behind pulpits or travel to distant countries.

It belongs to all of us.

When Jesus commissioned His disciples, He commanded them to "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations" (Matthew 28:19).

Interestingly, the language of this passage carries the idea of making disciples as we go. In other words, sharing the Gospel isn't limited to a special trip, an organized outreach, or a scheduled church event. It's something we're called to do as we go about our everyday lives.

As we go to work. As we spend time with family. As we interact with our neighbors. As we live our lives in the places God has already put us.

And sometimes, making disciples begins with something as simple as an invitation.

Here's My Challenge to Our Church Family

PRAY.

Ask God to place someone on your heart. Pray for their salvation, for an open door, and for the courage to extend an invitation.

INVITE.

Don't assume someone wouldn't be interested. Reach out to your "one more." Invite them to worship with you this Sunday and stay for lunch afterward. You never know what God may already be doing in their heart.

COME EXPECTING.

Let's gather with hearts ready to worship and an expectation that God is going to move. Not because we've planned a special Sunday, but because we serve a living Savior who is still changing lives!

MAKE ROOM.

As our church continues to grow, let's be intentional about making space for our guests. If you're able, consider sitting in our overflow room so that visitors and those who may be less familiar with our church can easily find a seat in the sanctuary.

Let's be willing to give up our favorite seat so someone else might find their place in the family of God.

FULLY ENGAGE.

Sing wholeheartedly. Pray earnestly. Listen attentively. Participate in every part of the service. Remember, there may be someone sitting near you who is experiencing Christian worship for the very first time. Let them see what it looks like when people genuinely love Jesus and are grateful for what He has done!

Church family, I am excited about what God is doing among us. But I also believe that we cannot become so comfortable enjoying what God is doing within our church that we forget those who have yet to come to know Him.

There are still people who need to hear.
There are still people who need to believe.
There are still people who need to call upon the name of the Lord.

And God has given us the wonderful privilege of participating in that work!

Romans 10:13 gives us this incredible promise:

"For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

Romans 10:13 (NKJV)

Whoever.

That includes your neighbor. Your coworker. Your friend. Your family member.

Your "one more."

Let's do our part this week. Let's pray, let's invite, and let's come ready to worship.

And let's ask God to make this Sunday special for a reason far greater than an extra hour of sleep, a good bowl of chili, or even the joy of gathering together.

Let's pray that this Sunday will be the day someone calls upon the name of the Lord and is saved!

I love you, church family, and I look forward to worshiping with you Sunday!

In Christ,

Pastor Kevin
