Come and See: A 21-Day Journey Through the Gospel of John
Church family,
As we step into 2026, we want to be very intentional about our pursuit of God. For the next 21 days, we are inviting you to join us on a spiritual journey through the Gospel of John that includes daily scripture readings, prayer challenges, and church events, centered around a simple yet powerful invitation from Jesus: “Come and see” (John 1:39).
Our prayer is that we would be a church filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit—burning brightly for Christ everywhere we go. We don’t want to be satisfied with where we are with Jesus; we want more of Him. We don’t want to settle for an “arm’s-length” relationship—we want to be cheek-to-cheek with Him. We don’t want temporary happiness; we want His eternal joy. We don’t want momentary quietness; we want His everlasting peace to rule our lives. We don’t want more of the world—we want more of our Good Shepherd, more of the Bread of Life, more of the Living Water. We want more of Jesus in every way, because He is everything our souls long for, crave, and desire.
The Gospel of John begins differently than the other Gospels. Instead of opening with a genealogy that establishes Jesus’ earthly credentials, John begins with Jesus as God—Creator, God with us, the Messiah, the Lamb of God. No earthly titles. No family lineage. Just this stunning truth: He is the one true and living God.
That can feel intimidating. Most of us will never meet a celebrity face-to-face, let alone earthly royalty or a high-profile leader. They are distant and inaccessible—by design, not by accident. So why would we think we could have access to the King of Kings, the Creator of the universe, the One who was, and is, and is to come?
Because He came to us.
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). God made Himself accessible—entering the world not as a ruler on a throne, but as a newborn infant. And then, almost unbelievably, He followed that with a personal invitation: “Come and see.”
We don’t pursue Jesus because we are star-struck or greedy—looking for an autograph, a photo, or a story to tell. We pursue Him because He came near to us and invited us closer.
Come and see that I am God.
Come and see that I am the Good Shepherd.
Come and see that I am the Bread of Life.
Come and see that I am the Living Water your soul is thirsty for.
Come and see that I am the God of the universe—and that I want to know you.
Jesus invites us to come close and see His love, His mercy, His peace, and His joy. He knows that we need an invitation, and He has given us one.
So church, over the next 21 days, will you come and see? Will you come near to Jesus in Scripture and in prayer? Will you prioritize Him in a fresh and intentional way?
He has already extended the invitation. The question is: how will we respond?
Together, over the next 21 days, we will walk through the Gospel of John—to come and see, to draw near, and to discover again that Jesus is everything we want and everything we need. And the beautiful truth is this: He could not be more accessible.
